**There will be a meeting at 2:15 today in the College and Career Center for seniors interested in running for Harvest Queen. Candidates must be a senior and have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher to be eligible to run. The meeting is mandatory, however, if you are in work-study or have another conflict please, contact Mrs. Robinson prior to the meeting.
**If you are interested in joining student council, please check your email for the application from Mrs. Robinson. Applications are due back by this Friday at 3pm and meetings will begin soon.
**Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests. All fall athletes and band members get into fall events for free.
**The East Alton Soapbox Derby is Saturday, September 7th. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the Attendance Center. Volunteers need to arrive at 9:00 am and the event will be over around 2 pm. All volunteers need to meet at the check station by Tropical Sno in East Alton (by the old EA Shop n Save). If you volunteer, please wear an Oiler shirt or another appropriate t-shirt and be sure to sign in and sign out. Again the sign up is in the Attendance Center.
**Today we will have the first senior/freshman mentor meetings. All freshmen should be on this list (if not on the list contact Mrs Robinson ASAP). Freshmen will report to the assigned room at 10:35 am. Senior mentors need to leave class at 10:30 to go to the assigned room. All other students are not to leave their assigned 3rd hour class. The schedule can be found in the schedules folder.
**If you are interested in a food bag to take home on Friday, please complete the survey Mrs. Robinson sent before tomorrow. Remember, you must complete a new survey each week. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Kinkel.
**ATTENTION GAMERS!
If you are interested in playing competitive esports, there will be a meeting tomorrow after school in the CCC to discuss the upcoming esports seasons. We hope to see you there!
**The senior cap and gown assembly is Thursday, August 29th, during academic lab in the auditorium. All seniors need to attend. If a senior can't attend please see Mrs Hayes in the guidance office following the assembly for an order packet.
**ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS AND CURRENT DRAMA CLUB MEMBERS: If you are interested in joining Drama Club, there will be a meeting at 5pm in the auditorium this Friday, August 23rd. We will be performing Game of Tiaras in the fall and Spongebob: The Musical in the spring. Many opportunities are open for those who want to work backstage or onstage. If you have any questions, please contact Kyndal Norton, Kaitlin Goodbrake, or any current drama club member.
**There will be a 2:00 dismissal until this Friday. Next week will start the regular 2:30 dismissal.

Our tennis team got to use their new courts for the first time today!


New science labs are finished and look amazing. Mrs Clendenny and Mr Strohmeier were able to move classes into the rooms today.





The Hickory Stick Golf Tournament here at Belk Park is well underway.



Good luck to our golfers today in our annual tournament at Belk Park.


The new EAWR tennis courts are now complete and our tennis team will get to practice at the new facility starting tomorrow. The new courts look amazing. Good luck to the Oilers Girls Tennis Team and Coach Parmentier this season.




Here is the athletic schedule for next week. Tennis will practice at the Rec Center again on Monday as the new courts did not get finished on Friday. Maroon and Gold Night is Friday night with player introductions and scrimmages beginning at 4:00 and continuing at the top of each hour until the football scrimmage with Calhoun.



Here are the details for next Friday's Maroon & Gold Night. There will be scrimmages leading up to the football scrimmage game with Calhoun.


Elliott and Quinten, two EAWR senior students, are taking an Intro to Engineering and an Intro to Computer Science class at SIUE and attended an orientation meeting on campus with Mrs Struif.

It was great seeing all the freshmen, their families, and staff at Trucking Into High School tonight. Mericue, The Cheese Shack and Tropical Sno were awesome. Special thanks to Mrs Guthrie for all her hard work helping plan the event. We are ready to kick off the 2024-2025 school year and Do Great Things!!




Thank you to the Wood River Rec Center for allowing our tennis team to workout while they await the finishing of their new outdoor courts. Also, for allowing our cheerleaders to practice while the Aud Gym at the high school is being finished up with updates.



First Day of School Information
The first day for all students is tomorrow, Wed, Aug 14th. Doors will open at 7:30am and all students must enter through door E2. There is early bird tomorrow and EB students must enter through door E2 and doors open for EB at 7:00am. All students will go through the EVOLV system. There will be a 2pm dismissal from Aug 14th-23rd. Bus times can be found on the school webpage. Paper schedules will be passed out in the courtyard from 7:30am-7:55am.

1st Week of School Information
Registration for the 2024-2025 must be completed online.
If any student in early band or early bird PE needs transportation to early bird during the school year please contact Mr. Moxey at 254-3151 ext 2561 and leave a message.
Freshmen Orientation is Tuesday, August 13th from 8-10:30 am. Freshmen need to report to door E2 (bus circle). Doors for freshmen orientation will not open until 7:30 am and all freshmen need to arrive by 8:00 am. Freshmen orientation is for first time freshmen students only. Bus routes can be found on the school webpage www.eawr.net.
All freshmen and their families are invited to Trucking Into High School, August 13th--6 pm-8 pm (open house format). Please RSVP to Carla Guthrie at (618) 254-3151 ext 2501 or email Leigh Robinson at lrobinson@eawr.org with the number of family members attending. Each family member attending will receive a ticket for a free sandwich and side from one of the food trucks.
