
Varsity volleyball wins in 2 over Granite City.



We have three cancellations to announce. First, New Athens has cancelled their cross country race this evening. Next, the boys golf match is cancelled and the boys will practice in our simulator until 4 pm. Finally, the girls tennis match is cancelled and no practice tonight.

**Attention Gamers: Today there will be a meeting to discuss the upcoming esports year in the College & Career Center after school @ 2:00pm. If you are interested in playing competitive esports for EAWR, make sure to come by!
**Seniors: Spirit Club is going to host a poster party tomorrow night to make senior fall sport/band posters, and also decorate the streets around the school. This event is for seniors only and it will be held in the east building courtyard from 6 to 8 PM. All seniors who participate will receive service hours and again all seniors are invited. I will provide pizza for everyone that attends the event. Hope you can make it next Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM for the poster party.
**Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests. All fall athletes and band members get into fall events for free.
**Every Friday is maroon and gold day! Wear maroon and gold and support your Oilers!!


Looking forward to the start of volleyball and boys soccer tonight. Both teams can be seen at Roxana High School as they both are playing in the Roxana Tournament for their sport. Let's go Oilers!

Girls Tennis battled hard in their first match of the season. Singles winners were Maya Mugge and Kaylynn Buttry. Doubles winners were the duo of Hailey Handler/Kaylynn Butty and Maya Mugge/Hope Carter.


Good luck to our athletes today as they compete in the Madison County Meet at Belk Park (Boys Golf) and girls tennis at Alton High School. Let's go Oilers!

It was great seeing all the freshmen, their families, and staff at Trucking Into High School tonight. Mericue and The Cheese Shack were awesome and everyone really enjoyed the food. Special thanks to Mrs Guthrie for all her hard work helping plan the event. Also a big that you to Mr Moxey and the custodial staff. Parking pass selection is tomorrow, August 15th. Students are required to park in the Gym Lot and North Lot at no charge. Parking spots will be selected tomorrow in the Main Office. The times are as follows:
Seniors--7:30-9:30am
Juniors–9:30am-10:30am
Sophomores–10:30am-11am (only currently licensed driver’s)
If you can't come during your time, you may stop by the Main Office after your scheduled time.
The first day for all students is Wednesday, August 16th.

Freshmen Orientation is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 15th from 8-10:30 am. Freshmen need to report to door M1 (front of the Main Building). Doors for freshmen orientation will not open until 7:30 am and all freshmen need to arrive by 8:00 am. Freshmen orientation is for first time freshmen students only. Bus routes can be found on the school webpage www.eawr.net.
All freshmen and their families are invited to Trucking Into High School, Aug 15th--6-8 pm (open house format). Please RSVP to Carla Guthrie at (618) 254-3151 ext 2501 or email Leigh Robinson.
