Due to the projected heat index on Saturday — which will be elevated further on the artificial turf field — the varsity football game at Marquette will now kick off at 9:00 AM.
This adjustment is necessary to avoid potential suspension of play. If the heat exceeds a specific threshold on the wet bulb globe thermometer, regulations require the game to be paused or halted for player safety.
Additionally, Alton High will be using the public school stadium field for soccer later that day, making the early start essential to ensure the football game can be completed as scheduled.
