Chromebook Waiver Reduced for 2017-18!

The Chromebook Take-home Waiver has been reduced in 2017-18.  The reduced cost is now $25 and allows the student to take the chromebook home for the school year as well as provides for free or reduced cost repairs.  The waiver can be paid this year through Family Access along with school fees and lunch account.  Log in to Family Access to get enrolled!

  • Cheer Squad Advances to IHSA State! Congrats to Coaches Allison Beachum and Allison Turner on the Varsity Oiler Cheerleaders advancing to the IHSA State Cheer Championships in Bloomington! They reach the finals by virtue of their 4th Place finish at the Waterloo Sectionals last weekend (Jan. 27, 2018). Here is a link to some other photos .... Way to go, Oilers!

  • Morgan Moxey Signs with Wabash On Dec. 8th, senior Morgan Moxey signed her letter of intent to play both softball and volleyball for Wabash College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She will join former Oiler softball teammates Haley Shewmake and Carly Campbell who will compete at Wabash this year. She signed the letter of intent in front of her family, friends, and coaches in the EAWR Auditorium. Congrats to Morgan!

  • NHS Induction Congratulations to all of the new National Honor Society inductees, as well as, the current members.  A big thanks to the NHS faculty committee: Cari Mueller (chairperson), Krysta Catlin, Kristen Miller, Jen Boyd and Lisa Woodman for putting together a very nice ceremony.  Thanks also to Kelly Gardner and Jesse Daniels for attending.The speaker at the induction ceremony tonight was Jessica (Lee) Stricklin, Class of 2012. Mrs. Stricklin gave a powerful talk, thanking her former teachers and fellow classmates supporting her, despite her home environment.   • National Walkout - Wed. March 14th Parents and Students: See the attached letter and permission slip regarding the nationwide walkout planned for March 14th at 10:00 a.m. This walkout is being sponsored in conjunction with national student concerns stemming from the school shooting in Parkland, Florida and other recent school shootings.The letter explains the procedures for students who voluntarily (and with parent permission) choose to participate. No instructional time on that day will be lost.

  • Free Dental Exams at SIU Dental School The SIU Dental School (Alton) will be offering free dental services using portable dental equipment this March and April at East Alton Middle School. Those EAWR parents who would like their son/daughter to take advantage of this free dental service should complete the attached forms and bring them in to Nurse Kelly at the high school. Nurse Kelly will submit the forms to the Dental School and then choose a day to drive EAWR students over to East Alton Middle School.   • County School Facilities Sales Tax Information Dear EAWR Parents and Community Members:In just a few weeks (Tuesday, March 20, 2018), the voters of Madison County will be asked to approve a proposal to provide funding to all county school districts through a 1% sales tax increase. The revenue from this sales tax can only be used to build or renovate school facilities or to make payments on existing bond debt. By Illinois law, this sales tax revenue cannot be used to pay  salaries, benefits, supplies or other operating expenses. EAWR - by conservative estimates - stands to gain an additional $324,000 for facility renovation and tax rate reduction.The EAWR Board has plans to use the sales tax revenue to: Use the CSFST proceeds - instead of ...

  • Illinois Youth Survey - Parent Notice Dear Parents of Seniors and Sophomores,On Wed., February 7, Sophomore and Senior students will be participating in a statewide student survey offered through the University of Illinois.  The purpose of the survey is to better understand Illinois youth risk behaviors as they relate to student problems and academic success, and to plan important prevention and intervention programs.The survey is entirely anonymous and voluntary, and EAWR will only receive a report of overall results, with no individual responses or information being reported to the staff or administration.  Attached is a Parent Notification Letter from the researchers at the University of Illinois, who administer and compile the data for this statewide survey.
