Summer Chromebook Policy

posted May 17, 2020, 3:28 PM by John Pearson   [ updated May 17, 2020, 5:38 PM ]

This summer we are allowing students in grades 9-11 and non-graduating seniors to keep their Chromebook at home for the summer.  We are doing this so that they do not have to risk exposure to the coronavirus by coming to school to return it.

If you have purchased the $25 Chromebook waiver this year, the district will extend the coverage for the summer months until the first day of the 2020-21 school year in the fall. That policy states that the first accidental damage incident to the student’s Chromebook will be repaired free of charge and the 2nd & 3rd accidental damage incidents will be covered at one-half the cost of repair parts.

If you have not purchased the Chromebook Waiver for the 2019-20 school year, you may still do so online through Skyward Student Fees and have that coverage for the summer months now as well as through the 2020-21 school year.

If the student’s enrollment status with EAWR changes over the summer such that the student will not be returning in the fall, it is expected that the Chromebook, charger, and carry case will be returned to the district.  An obligation will be placed on the student’s account and must be remedied before any transcripts will be sent to another district.  The obligation schedule will be as follows for any unreturned Chromebook.

Chromebook - $200

Charger - $30

Carry Case - $35

Any parent who does not wish their student to keep their Chromebook over the summer months is welcome to return it when they are turning in other school materials during the final week of the school year (May 18-May 21 Mon. thru Thursday).
